Supporting SMFEs in China |
| Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) contributed significantly to livelihood and local employment. They have become an important integrated part of Chinese economy under a series of supporting policies and surging market economy since 1980s. Though small and medium forest enterprises (SMFEs) share many features with non-forest SMEs, they also face peculiar challenges of complexity in terms of governance support, finance and market access, specialized associations and labor issues. Additionally, systematic data collection and research on SMFEs at the national level is rare in China. |
Helping SMFEs help themselves |
| SMFEs,are not aware of their actual situation or they don't realize their advantages and disadvantages, thus they don't even know their opportunities and how to improve their competitiveness. A sustainable and workable measure to improve this is to help the SMFEs help themselves. |
